Asia-Pacific Waste Management Outlook

The Regional Outlook for Asia will be developed to complement the global overview of the Global Waste Management Outlook (GWMO). The development of the Asia Pacific Waste Management Outlook (APWMO) is a follow-up to the Global Waste Management Outlook (GWMO) launched in 2015, in partnership with ISWA (for more information, please visit this site:). The regional outlook will allow a deeper analysis of the state of waste management in Asia, by reflecting its concrete situation and using case studies from the region and propose more tailored recommendations for the region.

Academic Curriculum on Holistic Waste Management

UNEP IETC is facilitating a University Consortium to develop an academic curriculum on holistic waste management for professionals, such as policy makers, managers and technicians, as a part of the Capacity Building at the National and City level. This consultation meeting will be led by UNEP IETC with the Consortium partners:  Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand), Kyoto University (Japan), Tongji University (China), TERI University (India), Griffith University and UNSW Australia.  The meeting will discuss the progress on academic curriculum work and decide on the next steps to deliver the curriculum by the consortium partners. The agenda will include: i) updating the progress of the Waste for Sustainable Development (WSD) Consortium/Academic Curriculum Activities, ii) update on the status of the Academic Curriculum resource package, iii) peer review of the course material developed by AIT, iv) identifying the challenges, problems, issues faced by each consortium partners, and v) future of the WSD for the final resource package, delivery of the course, regional/global expansion of the network, and exploring research/project opportunities. .   WSD participants can login here to see the detailed modules and progress.

Global Knowledge Platform for Waste Management ​

AIT RRC.AP will develop knowledge platform for UNEP IETC as mandated under the Global Platform on Waste Management (GPWM) project, to collect, populate and disseminate the data and knowledge products on waste management from partners which will provide data and information drawn from scientific assessment report, data, tools and guidelines, among others. The information that will populate the platform will include, but not limited to, information on international waste management projects collected from the partners under the GPWM and UNEP.
