Call for Applications for Internship with RRC.AP

The Regional Resource Centre for Asia and the Pacific (RRC.AP) at the Asian Institute of Technology is inviting applications for research internship to support activities of the Air Pollution Cluster (APC).

RRC.AP assists Asia and Pacific countries in advancing their sustainable development goals by providing capacity building, knowledge and information sharing, policy advice, and research. APC is working to provide the best available solutions to combat air pollution and related environmental problems for a clean and sustainable environment in the Asian region. We contribute to various initiatives aiming to improve air quality in the region.

Location: Home-based or RRC.AP, Outreach Building, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand

Expected Start date: As soon as possible
Expected duration: 2 months.


Description of duties:

The intern will carry out the following activities:

  • Desk review of available information on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in air quality management
  • Analysis of gaps in air quality management in the countries of South Asia and Southeast Asia where intervention of AI can be made to fill the gaps
  • Development of a framework for intervention of AI in air quality management

Requirements:

  • Masters or Ph.D. (completed or in progress) in environmental science/ environmental engineering/environmental management.
  • Considerable knowledge and understanding of air pollution and air quality management and data analysis
  • Basic understanding of information technology and AI. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High proficiency in English, both written and spoken​

Please note that the above list of tasks are indicative and the selected candidate may be asked to work in other areas, if needed. We work in a collaborative way and everyone does a bit of everything, so flexibility is highly appreciated.​

Please note the internship at RRC.AP is an unpaid position. The selected candidate is expected to work with RRC.AP without any financial assistance for the duration of the internship. However, at the end of the internship, a certificate will be given to the candidate.
