​​​​​​​​​​EANET Project Meeting, Emissions Inventories and Source Apportionment of Air Pollution in Southeast Asia

​The Secretariat for the Acid Deposition Monitoring Network in East Asia (EANET), in partnership with the Asian Institute of Technology – Regional Resource Centre for Asian and the Pacific (AIT RRC.AP), organised the project meeting on “Emissions Inventories and Source Apportionment of Air Pollution in Southeast Asia” on 29 May 2024 at UNCC, Bangkok, Thailand (hybrid mode).

 

The objective of the meeting was to share the updates on emission inventories (EI) and source apportionment (SA) studies in Southeast Asia including the analytical framework for meta-analysis and assessment of EI-related regulations in Southeast Asian countries. The meeting also aimed to discuss challenges in data collection and harmonizing EI and SA methodologies. A total of 28 participants representing the EANET participating countries, EANET network center, UNEP, international organizations, NGOs, AIT RRC.AP, and academic institutions participated in the meeting. The proceedings of the meeting focused on sharing the assessment of institutional capabilities for air pollution EI development and SA studies in Southeast Asian countries, progress on EI data collection and meta-analysis framework including discussion on challenges in harmonizing EI and SA methodology and data collection and ways of overcoming the challenges. The meeting suggested avoiding duplication of work and the need for capacity building and collaboration with academic institutions, and the ways to promote the involvement of the government.
