The Working Group Meeting in 2021 Session-1 for the EANET (WG2021-1) was convened virtually from 20-22 April 2021. Around 70 participants, including members from the EANET participating countries, namely Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Russia, Thailand and Vietnam, joined the Session. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Asia Center for Air Pollution Research (ACAP), which serve as the Secretariat and the Network Center (NC) for the EANET, respectively, and the AIT RRC.AP were also present at the meeting.

The WG2021-1 was established, following the decision of the IG22 in November 2020, to facilitate discussion among participating countries on the necessary arrangements for the expansion of the scope of the EANET Instrument. At the meeting, the participants had the opportunity to share their views on the initial draft text of the Supplementary Document to the EANET Instrument, and reviewed other key documents, such as the proposed arrangements for the EANET project fund. The discussions held at this meeting will be continued during the WG2021-2 to be organised 18-20 August 2021. As an implementing partner of the EANET secretariat functions, the AIT RRC.AP had worked closely with the EANET Secretariat in organising the WG2021-1 Meeting.
