    Tacloban, Philippines

Dr. Guilberto Borongan, Director of AIT RRC.AP participated in the 3rd Regional Disaster Resilience Forum (RDRF) held in Tacloban City, the Philippines, on 26–27 November 2024. The 3rd RDRF aims to update disaster risk reduction and management offices (DRRMOs) on the national government's current disaster risk reduction and management efforts, particularly policies for local implementation. It also seeks to benchmark best practices from active NGOs dedicated to climate change adaptation and disaster resilience. Organized by Office of Civil Defense Region 8 (OCD 8), the forum commemorates the anniversary of Super Typhoon Haiyan. The forum was attended by 134 participants from various Local Government Units (LGUs), who gained valuable insights into the showcased biogas digester project, designed for areas beyond the reach of electrification. Despite its modest scale, the biogas project, implemented by AIT RRC.AP, is making significant contributions to addressing social and environmental challenges. It helps reduce poverty, ensure food security, promote good health, develop eco-friendly technologies, and enhance the well-being of rural communities, particularly the poor and marginalized.
