One of the specific objectives of Phase III for the implementation of the Malé Declaration is to provide decision support information for formulation of policies for air pollution control and prevention. Towards meeting the objective, an activity has been undertaken to prepare to a compendium of good practices in preventing and controlling air pollution that have been adopted in different countries in the world and to identify potential strategies to implement and upscale the good practices in South Asia. The objective of this report is to discuss key issues related to air pollution in South Asia and present some promising good practices on the control of air pollution, which could help the policy makers in the formulation of effective policies and measures to control and prevent the emissions of transboundary air pollutants.
