Dr. Vanisa Surapipith

Dr. Vanisa Surapipith is the head of Air Pollution Cluster at the AIT RRC.AP. She has over 20 years of strong experience in atmospheric research with a focus on climate and air quality management. She held various senior positions, including at the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (NARIT), COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (CIIT), the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), and the Thailand Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MNRE).

Her research has involved leading projects on aerosol impacts on climate, applying atmospheric models (WRF and WRF-Chem) to study Himalayan environments, and evaluating air quality monitoring networks. Dr. Surapipith has also contributed to international collaborations, such as with the Task Force of Hemispheric Transport of Air Pollution (TF-HTAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences and Clean Air Asia. She has experiences in teaching and academic administration, particularly with supporting Thailand Hub of Talents on Air Pollution and Climate (HTAPC).

At RRC.AP, Dr. Surapipith will spearhead the Air Pollution Cluster's strategic direction and program development. She will oversee program implementation and activities, including staff management and development.

Dr. Surapipith obtained her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences from University of East Anglia, Norwich, United Kingdom, and a B.Sc. in Physics from Chiang Mai University, Thailand. She also spent a year of M.Phil. program in Meteorology at University of Reading, Berkshire, UK. She joined a Master program in Applied Mathematics at Mahidol University, Thailand, before going to the UK with scholarships from the Royal Thai Government.​​
