The On-site Training Workshop on Air Quality Management in Bhutan was conducted on 21 August 2025 at Osel Hotel, Thimphu, as part of the Malé Declaration Scoping Study. The event gathered officials from Bhutan’s focal point of the Malé Declaration, the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR). The program opened with a welcome address by Mr. Sonam Tashi, Director of the Department of Environment and Climate Change/MoENR, followed by inspiring remarks from Mr. Norbu Wangchuk, Director General of SACEP, and congratulatory words from Dr. Guilberto Borongan, Director of AIT RRC.AP.​​​

Jointly organized by SACEP, the Secretariat of the Malé Declaration, together with AIT RRC.AP as technical partner, the workshop served as an important platform to strengthen Bhutan’s efforts in air quality management. It provided participants with the opportunity to learn about ongoing initiatives, explore the latest technical advancements, and exchange insights into addressing national priorities. The interactive discussions also helped identify training needs and capacity-building opportunities for air quality management.
