  June 2025

   Colombo, Sri Lanka

The scoping study aims to assess the aspirations of Malé Declaration member countries and how regional cooperation can support their national efforts to address air pollution. The study will review the status of air quality, institutional roles, and ongoing national policies, while it will identify key gaps in monitoring, emissions inventories, modeling, data sharing, and institutional coordination. The study will also map existing regional initiatives led by development partners, explore opportunities for enhanced collaboration, and evaluate stakeholder readiness for renewed commitment. The study will propose options to strengthen the regional framework and recommend priority actions for joint air pollution mitigation across South Asia.
