​​​​​ Internship​ - Waste and Resource Management Cluster​

1. Background

The Waste and Resource Management Cluster of AIT RRC.AP aims to catalyze the transition to sustainable waste and resource management in Asia and the Pacific Region. The cluster leverages a unique policy–research interface to support, promote, and inspire governments, businesses, and startups to rethink and co-develop sustainable models of resource utilization and circular economy. The internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in this dynamic field while contributing to impactful projects.


2. Purpose of the Internship

The primary goal of the internship is to provide the intern with an opportunity to:

  • Gain practical experience in sustainable waste and resource management.
  • Assist in research, data analysis and project implementation.


3. Responsibilities and Tasks

The intern will undertake the following tasks:

  • Conduct research on marine plastic waste and circular economy models.
  • Assist in the development of reports and presentations.
  • Support project coordination, data collection, and analysis.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of workshops, training programs, and events.
  • Find relevant content for the KnowWaste Platform and help in its update.
  • Assist in documentation and communication of key activities and outcomes
  • Assist in the update of cluster profile and database of networks and partners

 

4. Qualifications and Competencies
The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Recently completed a degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural team environment.
  • Interest in sustainable waste management and circular economy concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.

5. Learning Opportunities

  • Gain practical insights into policy and project implementation.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of sustainability challenges in the Asia-Pacific region.

6. Duration and Working Conditions

  • The internship will be for a period of 3 months, with a possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs.
  • The intern will report to supervising Programme Officer
  • The position may be in-person at the AIT RRC.AP office in Pathum Thani, Bangkok.
