RRC.AP provided support to the Secretariat for the Acid Deposition Monitoring Network in East Asia (EANET), hosted by UN Environment Asia and the Pacific Office, in organizing the Nineteenth Session of the Intergovernmental Meeting (IG19) at Siem Reap, Cambodia, during 13-14 November 2017. The Government of Cambodia was the local host for the IG19. The meeting was attended by delegates from member countries of the EANET including Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Lao PDR, Mongolia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Russia, Thailand, and Viet Nam and representatives from the Network Centre and the Secretariat, including RRC.AP. Mr. Heng Nareth, Director General of Directorate of Environmental Protection, Ministry of Environment, Cambodia, delivered the welcome address followed by appreciation and thanking remark by Dr. Isabelle Louis, Deputy Director, UN Environment Asia & the Pacific to the Government of Cambodia for their gracious invitation and generous contribution to host IG19. The session elected Mr. Heng Nareth (Cambodia) as the Chairperson, and Dr. Batbayar Jadamba (Mongolia) and Mr. Thalearngsak Petchsuwan (Thailand) as the Vice Chairpersons and Ms. Jean N. Rosete (Philippines) as the Rapporteur. The Session endorsed the Report on the Progress of the EANET since the IG18 and the Financial Report of the Secretariat and the Network Center in 2016, as well as the Report on the Outcomes of the Seventeenth Session of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC17). The Session approved the Report of the Feasibility Study on the Establishment of New Network Center for the EANET, with follow-up actions and the Work Programme and Budget of the EANET in 2018 (EANET/IG 19/8), with modifications suggested by participating countries.
