RRC.AP participated at the Expert Group Meeting on Best Available Techniques

RRC.AP participated in the Expert Group Meeting on Best Available Techniques convened on 14-15 November 2017 at the European Commission IPPC Bureau Joint Research Centre, Seville, Spain. RRC.AP supported the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in the survey and compilation of the Best Available Techniques (BAT) used for prevention and control of chemical pollution in India and China, and the reports were presented at the meeting. The meeting discussed the status of the BAT reference documents in various countries; what kind of information countries collected on advanced techniques (candidate BAT); and how advance techniques were evaluated and prioritization made for candidate BAT. There were over 30 delegates from the European Union including Germany, Belgium, UK, Russia, Business and Industry Advisory Committee (BIAC), UNIDO, VITO, Korea and India. The OECD Secretariat presented the background of the BAT project as well as the overview of the steps of the BAT development process. Dr. Ram Lal Verma and Dr. Mara Regina Mendes from RRCAP presented the findings of the BAT report on India and China respectively. Dr. Verma delivered a presentation on "Comprehensive Industry Document Series (COINDS)" which is a kind of BAT on Indian context. Dr. Mendes remotely presented the "Integrated, Intelligent and International Platform for Environmental Technologies (3iPET), a kind of BAT in China. Both reports were greatly appreciated by the participants. OECD will publish a full report on the BAT wherein BAT reports on India and China will be included.
