​Building on the fact that effective adaptation and resilience development cannot be achieved without meaningful inclusion of gender, and on the growing necessity for stakeholders to understand how to mainstream gender into climate action, a new training programme on Mainstreaming Gender Considerations in Climate Change Adaptation Projects  was developed and held by RRC.AP on 4-8 December 2017.

21 participants from Asia and the Pacific participated in this new training programme, which aimed to: build capacities of GCF National Designated Authorities (NDAs), Focal Points, GCF Accredited Entities and applicant entities to effectively and holistically mainstream gender considerations in climate change adaptation projects by providing them with tools, methodologies and guidance; and to leverage co-benefits between gender equality and adaptation action for sustainable development.

The programme focused on gender policies and requirements of the Green Climate Fund (GCF).  Gender mainstreaming is central to the GCF’s objectives and guiding principles, including  engaging women and men of all ages as stakeholders in the design, development and implementation of strategies and activities to be financed.
