The Youth Energy Academy reaches COP 25

12-Dec-2019- 12-Dec-2019
Madrid, Spain

RRC.AP shared insights on its work in capacity building for youth-led climate action during a side event titled “Increasing Climate Ambition through Capacity Building Among Youth and Educators” during COP 25. The Youth Energy Academy is a unique and disruptive training programme brought to AIT for the first time in October 2019 with the support of the Konrad-Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) Foundation. The programme aimed to equip young people with the hard and soft tools to start their own decentralized renewable energy projects. By blending theory and practice and through the creation of spaces for exploration, playful and purposeful social interaction, participants from various backgrounds and nationalities, understood the role of energy in community development, discussed how to turn ideas into actionable projects, and got hands-on experience in building their own solar energy systems. In the end, participants left with the” can-do” attitude and the inspiration to take a leading role in their communities. For a video on the Youth Energy Academy, visit this link.
