The Waste Management Cluster of RRC.AP received a team from Full Advantage, a private consulting firm, on 07 August 2017 to discuss on the waste management systems in Mongolia. The Full Advantage, in partnership with the United Nations Environment International Environmental Technology Centre (IETC), is currently preparing a project proposal on waste management in Mongolia to apply for the Project Preparation Facility of the Global Climate Fund (GCF).

The Waste Management Cluster shared insights on the ground realities of waste management situation in Mongolia, based on its recently concluded pilot project on the Mongolia National and Ulaanbaatar City waste management improvement strategy and action plans, and on-site sanitation facility (wastewater treatment plant), under the Project Cooperation Agreement with United Nations Environment International Environmental Technology Centre (IETC). RRC.AP also had previous engagement on hazardous waste management in Mongolia, funded by the UNIDO Partnership for Action on Green Economy.

On 3 August 2017, the Environmental Preservation and Innovation Center (EPIC), a center of excellence (CoE) being launched by CENVIRO, a Malaysian company under Khazanah Nasional, the investment arm of the Ministry of Finance of Malaysia, visited RRC.AP and carried out an insightful discussion with the Waste Management Cluster. Mr. Sivapalan Kathiravale, Head of EPIC, introduced the four areas of development - human capital, innovations and advanced technology, green economy, and environmental awareness and social responsibility. RRC.AP and EPIC discussed the potential for mutual collaboration and partnership on waste management and 3R initiatives.
