​Asmita holds a MSc in Natural Resource Management from the Asian Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Kathmandu University with specialization in Carbon Sequestration.

Previously she worked with the Rural Access Program funded by DFID and the Paani Programme, funded by USAID, for Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ). Asmita also worked with CONNECT as an Enterprise Graduate to achieve the project’s objective to improve the economic condition of poor people living in remote areas of mid and far-west of Nepal by building partnerships between divergent interest groups (Bank, Multinational Companies, Micro and SMEs and farmers). Similarly, with NEFEJ She worked as a Project Officer to handle the communications for the Paani Programme. They worked to highlight watershed issues at the local level and advocated to draft or amend policies in three river basins (Rapti, Karnali and Mahakali) in Nepal through the use of different media techniques.
