On 22-23 March 2021, the Second Global Waste Management Conference was held in a virtual format with the theme “Integrating People, Planet & Profit in Managing Waste and Resource Recovery.” The Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) and Confexhub Group of Malaysia organized the conference. Participants were from policymakers, international experts, and global industry practitioners to strategize, chart directions and craft-out new blueprints to achieve the actions, such as, waste and resource management data; waste management and resource recovery infrastructure utilizing the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and the internet of things; financing options for investment in modern waste and resource management; identify global good practices; among others. Mr. Guilberto Borongan and Mr. Solomon Huno, of RRC.AP participated in the conference virtually.
Mr. Borongan presented one of the plenary addresses – “‘Citizen Civil-Mindedness in Managing Waste and 3Rs’ during the opening and plenary session. Similarly, Mr. Borongan was privileged to moderate session 3: SMART Waste Collection Technologies of the conference - with exciting innovation and practices shared from the esteemed experts on waste management and circularity.
